CLAWS is a duo from Atlanta. It is comprised of the sultry vocalist Amber Renee and four-time Grammy winning producer Graham Marsh—this explains a lot. I mean, the dude worked with Bruno Mars, T.I, Cee Lo Green among others. But it was only after he quit being Cee Lo Green's right-hand man that he embarked on this new project.

Not long after making that call, during one of those raw-emotion-infested nights that Atlanta has to offer, Graham found himself at Eddie's Attic or Smith's Old Bar (doesn't matter) when he heard Amber Renee singing. The rest is history. In the Summer of 2013...

Freaks R Us
2015

For the uniformed, The Pop Group is a British post-punk band that was formed back in 1977 in Bristol, England. Mere teenagers at the time of their formation, The Pop Group made their vinyl debut in March of 1979 with the release of the cult single "She Is Beyond Good and Evil". Both the single (a punk-funk freakout of a cut if ever there was one!) and the band's praise-worthy first full-length album, "Y", were released on Radar Records with "Y" appearing one month after the band had first issued "She Is Beyond Good and Evil"....

Spring is here and some of the big releases come in even bigger “deluxe editions”. So, if you pony up the dough, is it worth the extra show? POPDOSE places a few recent releases into the ring:

Madonna • Rebel Heart (Super Deluxe Edition)

I’ve been with Madge since day one and she rarely disappoints — but when she does, whoa Nelly. I blew $20 on the deluxe edition of MDNA thinking there is no way it could be worse than Hard Candy but boy was I in for a shock. Rebel Heart marks a move towards redemption. There’s a 19-track deluxe...

Good morning, I hope you are enjoying the Easter break, if you have one. A suitably cheerful bunch of worms for you this week, in line with the holiday mood. Thanks to all and please keep contributions coming to earworm@tincanland.com.

Heg and the Wolf Chorus – Three Sailors – AliM: An Earserpent. I saw HatWC recently – never heard of ‘em before, a multi-talented, theatrical folkie-ish band, based in Bristol. This may appeal to those of you with small children and/or those who like sea shanties – God Rest Ye Merry Sailormen! Niche, but fun.

Capercaille – Inexile – goneforeign: A bit of...

“Persuasion” by Fable

DV:

Somewhere in the multiverse, there’s a world where the James Bond movies have much more exciting theme songs: where Pulp’s “Tomorrow Never Lies” won out and Sheryl Crow never got near the mic, where Cee-Lo’s tryout “Bright Lights, Bigger City” led to him actually producing the real thing, and one where “Persuasion” gets heard by the right people and Fable gets the chance to show what she can do with a massive budget behind her. “Persuasion” is sultry, theatrical, and perhaps a bit tinnier than its sweeping sound suggests it should be. Fable’s voice soars over the track, spiraling...

Beyond the release of Tech N9ne’s Everready (when Strange Music became a fully independent entity), the modern era of Strange Music began once ¡MAYDAY! signed the dotted line.

The Kansas City-based label rose to prominence in the ever-turbulent music business because of three things: 1) the sound created by Tech N9ne and the largely-KC-based talent he co-championed, 2) the forward-thinking business acumen of Travis O’Guin, and last, but most important, 3) the dedicated fans that took to Tech N9ne’s incredible music and Strange Music’s extra-mile approach to customer satisfaction.

When Strange Music signed a Miami collective known as ¡MAYDAY! to the label in 2011, the sound and look of the label would...

If you’ve been anywhere near the blogosphere over the last few months, you’ve probably noticed that Ludacris has been plotting and quickly enacting his return to the rap game. This evening he took to studio 6b to bust out his introspective new single “Grass Is Always Green” with the legendary roots crew in tow, adding a flavor to the mix that only the hardest working band in show business can. The track can be found on Luda’s upcoming ninth studio LP Ludaversal, which is slated to drop next Tuesday, March 31st with a litany of A-list features, including Miguel,
